What is the difference between Lux and Lumen?

In the lighting industry, there are two terms that can be used to indicate the brightness of a light, namely Lux and Lumen. But what is the difference between them?

The difference between Lux and Lumen is the way the amount of light is measured. Lumen is the amount of light which the light emits from the source per time unit, regardless of where the light radiates. Lux, on the other hand, is the amount of light that falls on a surface, for example on a square meter.

At AXA lighting products the number of Lux is always mentioned. This term gives information on how much light is shining on the road and so how much sight you experience: extra safe!
