Minister Van der Steur presents the PKVW-(Police Hallmark for Safe Living) prizes The Minister of Security and Justice, Ard van der Steur, presented the Politiekeurmerk Veilig Wonen (PKVW) prizes during the CCV Safe Living Day 2016 held on Wednesday 14 September.
The prizes for the best PKVW companies went to Tegen Inbraak from The Hague, Van Rumpt Specialisten from Utrecht and Zone 3 from Amsterdam. The most innovative PKVW product in 2016 is a combination of a fastener and sturdy restrictor for use on windows, namely the AXA Oyster from AXA Home Security.
A total of 700,000 homes in the Netherlands have the Police Hallmark at the moment. The affiliated PKVW companies visit tens of thousands of homes every year to give the residents advice and to take security measures in order to reduce the number of house burglaries. Minister Van der Steur: "The number of house burglaries has dropped sharply by 14 % in respect to last year. A reduction this big is a great achievement for which our public and private partners cooperated well with each other." According to the minister, this reduction shows that public-private connections work and that they could lead to even better results.
Most innovative PKVW product
The public could vote to determine the most innovative product during the Safe Living Day. The winner of this prize is a combination of a window fastener and a sturdy restrictor for windows, namely the AXA Oyster from AXA Home Security. All the winners received a prize of 750 Euro. The amount won is intended to be used for the prevention of home burglaries or for encouraging safety.
