10 tips to secure your bike.
Bicycle thieves are getting smarter every day. AXA is working on a daily basis to stay one step ahead of the bicycle thieves. Apart from the things AXA can do for you, there are still many other options to protect your bicycle against thieves.
Secure your bike with 2 different types of locks. Thieves always have one specialism.
Lock your bike to a fixed object so your vehicle cannot be moved.
Fix your chain or cable high on your bike and not on the floor, as this offers opportunity to use more strength.
Preferably fix your locks to the frame of the rear wheel of your vehicle, front wheels can be removed quicker.
Park your vehicle preferably at a spot where people are waiting, (f.i. metro station) thieves do not like to be observed.
Do not park your vehicle in the same spot every day.
Also secure your vehicle when you are at home by locking both bike and garage door.
Maintain your locks, this ensures a longer life cycle and better operation!
Know your property; write down important information such as frame number, lock number, key number and anti-theft identification chip.
For optimal security always choose a lock with an approval of a certified independent institute such as ART or Varefakta.
