You can have your home inspected and certified by a recognised PKVW company. If the inspection shows that your home is not in compliance with PKVW requirements, the PKVW company can adapt your home and protect it in accordance with the PKVW. You could also do this yourself.
It will then be possible to have your home certified by the PKVW company. Some insurance companies will give you a discount of as much as 15% on your fire and theft insurance if you have a PKVW certificate.
In addition to the Police Hallmark for Safe Homes certificate for individual homes, you could also arrange to have a complex or neighbourhood certified. A Safe Complex certificate can be issued for any semi-private and semi-public areas (a central hall, storeroom or walkway, for example).
A Safe Neighbourhood certificate relates to public areas outside (street furniture and public transport stops, for example).
